You Always Look at the Universe Through Your Sunglasses II

This artwork is part of the series Always Watching the Universe Through Sunglasses and was created using acrylic and gold pigment on canvas. The flying carpet can be understood as a wishful escape: a way of flying away from problems and retreating into distant worlds or a peaceful night sky. At the same time, it could also be interpreted as a metaphor for drugs or an altered state of mind, a temporary escape from reality.
Even though it is nighttime, the man wears sunglasses, which raises the question of what he is protecting himself from seeing. They could suggest a desire to avoid facing something in reality, adding another layer to the idea of escape.
The colorful string lights attached to the frame create a warm, cozy, and comforting atmosphere. At the same time, they add a modern, artificial element which creates a tension between tradition and modernity, reality and escape, and familiarity and the unknown.
