Dream
The work stands out through its unusual, elongated vertical format and intense visual stimulation. A multitude of colors, patterns, and forms overlap, creating a dynamic and almost unreal world. At the center is a threedimensional bust of the artist in shades of green, yellow, and blue.
The bust is surrounded by honeycomblike patterns, contrasting with a vivid orange background crossed by irregular blue stripes. On both sides, the background becomes black, while white zebralike stripes and paint splatters connect the different layers. The geometric honeycombs appear regular and controlled, while the organic zebra stripes seem restless and unpredictable, creating a constant tension between order and chaos.
The title “Dream” gives this visual overload a deeper meaning. The many impressions reflect the logic of a dream, where images, memories, emotions, and perceptions merge without following a clear order. The depiction of the artist as an ancient sculpture is based on a personal dream in which she saw herself as one. This raises questions about time and identity: Is the figure simply a creation of the subconscious, or could it suggest a connection to another time or even a previous existence? Have I existed before?
The classical appearance of the bust seems to place it in another time, while its neonlike colors bring it into the present. Past and present therefore meet within one figure. Her empty eyes add to this feeling of detachment, as if she were looking into another reality.Ultimately, the work captures the feeling of a dream: overwhelming, contradictory, colorful, and difficult to grasp.
