Elusive
The artwork was created using acrylic paint on a pair of women’s tights. The unusual material creates a sense of movement through its fine texture and the way it reflects and refracts light. The woman’s eyes seem to follow the viewer through the space, while the background changes with every movement. This makes the image appear almost alive, while at the same time giving it a translucent quality.
The sad, piercing gaze of the woman creates a feeling of closeness and unease, as if she is aware of the viewer’s presence.
The delicate texture of the tights makes the image feel like a faded memory, something that is no longer completely tangible, but still remains present. The woman almost becomes a memory that lingers in the room, like a warning.
